Who we are

Tucked away on a cobbled street in the heart of Évora, our restaurant is a quiet invitation to slow down, eat well, and savour the simple pleasures of Alentejo.

Our family has welcomed guests here since 1982 — two generations who’ve grown up around these tables, learning to cook, serve, and share. What started as a humble tavern has become a place where memories are made, where the spirit of the past lives on in every detail.

We believe that food should be rooted in place. That’s why our kitchen works closely with local producers, farmers, and artisans to create a menu that reflects the richness of the region — its seasons, its soil, dry and hard as well as its traditions. Every ingredient is chosen with care, and our dishes tell many stories: of where they came from originally, who grew it, and how it found its way to your plate.

Our space is small by design. We want each guest to feel welcome, never rushed. Whether you sit inside under the warm stone arches or outside on the terrace with a glass of wine in hand, we want you to feel at ease — like you’re visiting an old friend, not just eating out. Many of our guest arrive hungry and leave as friends.

Our wine collection leans toward the expressive and the regional. We showcase Alentejo winemakers who work with intention and character, and we always have something new to open, ready to pour your glasses.

For us, hospitality is not about fuss or formality. It’s about generosity, care, and a certain kind of quiet joy. That’s what we hope you’ll find here — whether you come for a long dinner, a glass of something fresh in the late of the hottest afternoons, or a slow dinner as the city cools and the lanterns come on.
