Cem Reis Reserva Tinto 2019
Cem Reis Reserva Syrah is a Syrah single variety. Cem Reis is produced from a selection of the best Syrah lots from that year, thus composing a final blend that aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (50%) and American oak (50%). Dark violet in color, it presents intense notes of black fruits. A round wine, with a firm and persistent structure.
Herdade da Maroteira is located at the foot of the Serra D'Ossa mountain range and spans over 540 hectares. It has been in the same Anglo-Portuguese family for five generations, dating back to the mid-19th century. At that time, Robert Reynolds invested in the Alentejo cork oak forest to meet the needs of the Port wine industry in northern Portugal, and for about 150 years, the estate's production focused on cork and cattle. It wasn't until 2000 that Philip Mollet, the current owner and manager of the estate, revolutionized the estate's strategy and planted vineyards. Since then, the estate has produced excellent Alentejo wines based on the preferred Syrah grape variety.
The vineyard is spread across 15 hectares planted in clay-limestone soils, giving the wines a genuine Alentejo character.
